Harvest Moon Holidays East Lothain Wedding ♡

I absolutely loved being at Harvest Moon Weddings in East Lothian for the intimate wedding of Calum, Natalie and their beautiful kids.

They had such a special outdoor ceremony conducted by the lovely Gina Williams - Celebrant and we managed down to the beach before the epic thunder and lightening started. We waited out the rain so we could head in to the forest for some final pictures of their day. Definitely worth it! Congratulations again Mathieson Family. ♡

Chelsea and Alastair were married at the Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh surrounded by their closet friends and family. It was such a beautiful day filled with love and laughter. Chelsea just had the biggest smile on her face all day long. It was clear to see how happy these two made each other and I loved being there to capture their day.

Fortingall Village Hall Wedding - Yana & Andrew

Looking back on an amazing day from last summer at this Fortingall Village Hall Wedding today. Yana and Andrew had a perfectly sunny day for their outdoor ceremony in the lovely little village of Fortingall.

I started my day with Yana and her family (who had travelled over from Russia) at Loch Tay Highland Lodges. What a beautiful setting for getting ready! Before heading to a field on the outskirts of the village for their ceremony. You can see from the photos what a stunning backdrop it was to be married in. Scotland really is beautiful, especially when the sun shines!

After the ceremony Andrew’s uncle piped Yana and Andrew in their open-top VW Beetle followed by their guests in a procession back through the village. We then left the guests to enjoy drinks in the sunshine while we went to explore the banks of Loch Tay for their couple session.

I love village hall weddings as you can decorate the hall your own way. Yana and Andrew and their families had got the hall looking amazing for their evening reception. The guests were treated to a traditional Russian music and a dance performance from Yana’s talented niece and nephew before joining in for some impressive ceilidh dancing in the evening.

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be at Dell of Abernethy for a wedding and while I was up that way I met up with Sian and Grant at Loch Morlich. I absolutely love Loch Morlich! The beach, the loch, the snow covered mountains, the spring sunshine (after a heavy rain shower!), the trees, the reflections in the still Loch all came together to make it the most perfect spot for a pre-wedding session.

I love meeting my couples before their wedding and hearing all about their plans too. Can't wait to head up to Strathpeffer in July but until then here are a couple of shots from our afternoon at Loch Morlich.

I loved everything about Amy and Iain's beautiful wedding at Wedderburn Castle Barns last year. Amy had paid so much attention to detail and transformed the blank canvas of the Barns in to their picture perfect venue. So many pretty details! I loved the flower girls' tutus, the bridesmaids' gold sparkly dresses, Amy's Dad's vintage Austin 10 and Amy's stunning Mori Lee wedding dress- she looked amazing!

It was such a fun and emotional day to be a part of with lots (and lots) of happy tears!

Nicola & Andrew - St Salvator's and St Andrews University Wedding

Today we’re heading to St Andrews. Such a gorgeous setting for a wedding with it’s beautiful old buildings and stunning beaches.

Nicola and Andrew met when they were at St Andrews University so it seemed like the perfect choice for their wedding day. They had a beautiful ceremony in St Salvator’s Chapel-made more personal by the fact it was officiated by a university friend of theirs. Nicola's lace Phase Eight wedding dress looked amazing. The bridesmaids looked fab too. Nicola just told them the colour to look for and let them pick their own dresses- they matched perfectly!

The weather held too and we managed to escape down to St Andrews Pier and Castle Sands for their couple session, before they danced the night away to the awesome Viper Swing. Such a brilliant day!

Lis and Tom - Ayrshire Farm Wedding

After an amazing month away in Australia (more on that soon!) I’m finally catching-up on a bit of blogging. Starting with one of my favourite weddings from last summer, Lis and Tom’s wedding on the family farm in Ayrshire.

I love farm weddings as they are so relaxed, personal and fun and it’s amazing to see how a barn can be transformed in to a wedding venue for the day! This wedding was no different. So much thought and effort had gone in to transforming the beautiful family farm which made the perfect setting for afternoon tea and wedding celebrations. So many personal touches… home made scones and jam, beautiful bouquets and flowers by Lis’ aunt and mum, amazing cut-out book table centres by Tom’s mum to name just a few.

Lis and Tom were so relaxed and didn’t stop smiling and laughing all day. They are clearly perfect for each other. It was such a privilege to be there to capture their day. It went a bit like this…..

I felt very honoured to be asked to capture Natalie and Matthew’s intimate wedding in Edinburgh recently. They travelled down from Inverness with just 5 of their closest family members for their gorgeous wedding at the Scotsman hotel.

After their lovely and personal humanist ceremony we ventured out amongst the tourists on the Royal Mile for their couple session. Matthew was stopped and asked to pose for photos with a few admirers as Natalie laughed and looked on looking absolutely stunning in her Essense of Australia dress.

I left just as they were starting to sip some fabulous looking cocktails so I’m sure it was a great evening too.

I had the privilege of meeting and photographing this gorgeous pair when they were only 8 days old. They were just perfect, very sleepy (not always at the same time!) and smiley. I don’t think Nancy & Alistair could have been married on a more wet and windy day (thanks to Storm Desmond!) but they certainly didn’t let that dampen their spirits. They had picked two beautiful venues- St John’s Church and the Royal College of Physicians- so it didn’t matter that we didn’t venture outside all day. Nancy looked absolutely stunning and was such a happy bride all day. This was such a fun wedding to be part of and I wanted to share a few of my favourite images from the day.

2015…..

What a year! In the first part of the year I became a mummy to gorgeous little Ayla. She has certainly kept me busy ever since! Then in the second half of the year I met more beautiful little babies and some absolutely amazing couples. I’ve felt so honoured to have played a part in capturing the love, joy, happy tears and special moments of their wedding days and wanted to share a few of my favourite images with you below. I also wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone for your support during 2015- I can't wait to see what 2016 has in store!

We got so lucky though as it dried up, and we got some beautiful light as we clambered about on The Crags. Hopefully they will agree that the climb was worth it! I’ve known David since my uni days so it was such an honour when he & Emma asked me to photograph their beautiful wedding at Inverness Country House Hotel back in July. The typically Scottish summer weather meant they had to bring their planned outdoor ceremony inside but that certainly didn’t put a dampener on their day. Emma looked totally stunning and they didn't stop smiling all day. It was clear so much effort had gone in to all the little details- transforming and personalising the hotel just for them. I loved the fact all their nieces and nephews were involved too (check out their fab baseball boots!).

I've just been reflecting back on what an amazing year 2014 was. Not only did I get the opportunity to shoot many beautiful weddings but I also got to photograph some gorgeous babies, cute kids and fun families along the way. Katy & Andy ♡ - Riddle's Court & Thomas Morton Hall Vintage Wedding Edinburgh

What an amazing day this was. Not satisfied with one theme, Katy and Andy went for a Vintage/Floral/Travel/DIY theme for their wedding! The DIY element saw both sides of the family coming together to decorate their reception venue - Thomas Morton Hall- the day before. So much work had gone in to all the decorations and details which transformed & personalised the Hall for their big day (I even got involved in tying some of the awesome floral chair covers on to the seats when I popped in to see them!)

The ceremony and drinks reception took place in the beautiful Riddle’s Court just off the Royal Mile. Katy looked absolutely stunning in her vintage dress. I think the look on Andy's face when they did their "first look" before the ceremony confirmed he thought so too! And lots of tourists took a shine to Andy and the boys in their kilts on the Royal Mile. You’d have thought there was a celebrity wedding on with the number of cameras I had to battle against when we left Riddle’s Court!! It made for an entertaining start to the fun big, red, bus journey through Edinburgh to the reception.

Katy and her bridesmaids laughed and twirled in their fabulous, flowery frocks from the minute they got ready right through to the dancing at night.

This was such a happy wedding to be involved in and I’m delighted to share some of the photos from the day below.

Lisa and Mark ♡ Fell Foot Wood-Lake District Wedding

♡ Lisa and Mark had the most amazing and chilled wedding at Fell Foot Wood in the Lake District last month. They had a legal ceremony in Ulverston followed by a ring exchanging ceremony back in the woods surrounded by their closest family and friends.

There were so many personal touches at this wedding from Lisa’s niece helping to make her wedding dress and customising welly boots in case it rained, to the hundreds of pom poms all hand fluffed on the Friday, the bridesmaids preparing the picnic baskets while getting ready in the morning, and the ring ceremony in Lancashire dialect to name a few.

It was such a pleasure to be there to capture it all. Here are a few photos of how it went......

I recently travelled to Portugal for my brother's beautiful wedding. I'd never been before and totally loved it. We were staying in a stunning villa in the hills just outside Tavira and spent our days travelling along the coast, enjoying the blue sky, sunshine and eating barbecued fish. I recently attended an inspirational workshop with the amazing Kitchener Photography. Dylan and Joanna put on a fantastic day of learning, openly sharing their passion for wedding photography for us. It was brilliant to attend with such an enthusiastic group of photographers too.

One of the highlights of the day for me was the couple shoot on Arthur’s Seat. Dylan and Joanna took us through their thought process for a couple shoot and let us put the theory in to practice on one of their future couples Lucille and Robby (who bravely modelled for 10 photographers!).

Strathallan Styled Shoot

As many of you know I have taken a huge leap from the world of accountancy to the amazing world of photography this year. I could not be loving it any more than I do right now. ♡

I was really lucky to meet the super-talented Eilidh from Eilidh Robertson Photography on a training course during the summer and have been second shooting for her ever since. Such invaluable experience! I really loved the hands-on, styled shoot element of the training course we had done, so Eilidh & I decided it could be fun to organise our own styled shoot.

Given the time of year we thought it would be perfect to go for an Autumn themed shoot. We set about getting our colour scheme and lost hours searching through the beautiful world of Pinterest creating our own inspiration board. Dresses, flowers, make-up, invites, decorations….... It was like planning a wedding again - something I absolutely loved for my own wedding 6 (!) years ago.

I spent a week with my fingers glued together making various crafty items such as sheet music roses, hessian and lace glass jars & pillar candles, and heart confetti. My Dad even got involved with a chainsaw to make our wonderful wooden cake stand! All little details which helped with the styling of the shoot on the day.

I always love the chance to get outdoors for my portrait sessions and for this very fun session we headed to Rouken Glen Park in Glasgow. Carla & Olivia are such beautiful sisters and we had a great time playing in the autumn leaves. Here are a few photos showing you what we got up to!

I’ve known Wendy since she was her daughter Rachel’s age so it felt like going back over 20 years in time looking at Rachel- she’s the spitting image of her mum :-)

I had such a fun afternoon with Wendy, Rachel and their dog Tyson. Rachel loved running, jumping and posing all at the same time!

We even managed to pick some wild blackberries during the shoot and rustle up a crumble afterwards (that was so tasty I forgot to take a photo of it before it vanished!).

I think you can tell there’s a lot of love between these two (or three!) so it was a real pleasure to photograph such a wonderful mum and her beautiful daughter.

New York is an amazing city and one that holds a special place in my heart as Mr Love proposed to me in Central Park (a few years ago now!)

We took a trip back for our anniversary this year and spent a couple of days exploring the city. Every time we go I fall in love with the City all over again. Here are a couple of shots from my iPhone and DSLR from our time there.

Civil Partnership- Aly & Emily ♡

I was really lucky to be offered the chance to second shoot for the first time at the stunning civil partnership of Aly and Emily at Balquhidder, Stirling. The ceremony took place in the “wedding field” opposite Emily’s parent’s house. The field was beautifully decorated with handmade bunting and hanging bottles full of wild flowers. They even had fires burning to keep the midges away!

It was such an amazing day & celebration of love shared with family & friends x

Fabulous 40th Anniversary Celebration

I had the pleasure of capturing a fabulous 40th wedding anniversary celebration at the beautiful Castle Lachlan recently. It was an evening filled with love & laughter, song & games and a specially choreographed "Ruby Wedding Reel"!
